Who Am I?
I'm Wildrome, often called Woody by friends, originally from Haiti. Florida has been my home since 2012. I've been happily married to my wonderful wife, Djoune, since 2017, though we've been together for 16 years. Despite facing challenging times, my courage and strength led me to graduate from nursing school in 2022, and I believe God has a purpose for me in this world. This is why I ask God for strength, wisdom, and courage to never give up on anything.
My Interests:
I have a strong affinity for social activities, which is reflected in my active participation in small groups within my church community. Additionally, I like cooking, drawing, and engaging in video games. Exploring diverse cultures through travel is another aspect I find enriching and personally fulfilling.
My Diagnosis:
I have been living with sickle cell disease since birth. Unfortunately, in August 2019, I experienced a mini-stroke that resulted in kidney failure. Following six months, I received a diagnosis of chronic kidney failure (CKD). Initially, I underwent peritoneal dialysis for three years, transitioning to home hemodialysis when peritoneal dialysis became less effective. I am on a 5 year waiting list for a kidney transplant. I am actively searching for a living donor; please note that the donor doesn't necessarily have to be a match if they are willing to participate in the paired kidney exchange.
How A Kidney Transplant Will Affect My Life:
"Taking risks is essential for a worthwhile life," as Nelson Mandela expressed: "There is no passion to be found playing small in settling for a life that’s less than the one you are capable of living." With a new kidney, I aspire to work as a nurse, extending support to those who have given up due to kidney failure. My goal is to serve as a testimony, inspiring anyone facing adversity. Chronic disease may induce feelings of worthlessness and depression, making one feel like a burden to their family. Yet, these sentiments are deceptive. I firmly believe in my purpose and my potential to contribute more to life than my current circumstances allow.
