Who Am I?
A hardworking individual with a dad joke sense of humor. A loving husband, father and grandfather. I am a man of faith.
My Interests:
Before my illness, I was a very active person who enjoyed hunting, camping, antiquing, crafting, bowling, grilling, cheering on the Vikings & Hawkeyes, among other things. I love to spend time with my wife, family and friends; I enjoy working with my hands, enjoy meeting new people and being involved in the community.
My Diagnosis:
In January of 2023, I was admitted to the hospital. It resulted in a long hospital stay, due to a severe infection. I underwent several procedures followed by a lengthy stay in a rehab facility. The doctor diagnosed me with kidney failure and I was emergently started on dialysis. Since then my kidney function has decreased to 12%, and I am stage 5 end stage renal failure.
How A Kidney Transplant Will Affect My Life:
Before my illness, I was a very active person who enjoyed hunting, camping, antiquing, crafting, bowling, grilling, cheering on the Vikings & Hawkeyes, among other things. I love to spend time with my wife, family and friends; Since my doctor diagnosed me with kidney failure I visit my dialysis center 3 times a week. On those days I spend 3-4 hours hooked up to the machine. I suffer from daily fatigue and an overall sick feeling. Each treatment takes a lot out of me. By receiving a successful transplant, I can get off dialysis and be able to live a normal life. I will be able to spend time with my family and watch my grandchildren grow up.
My Blood Type: B
